Therapeutic Use:

• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Used to manage conditions involving excessive stomach acid production.
• Erosive Esophagitis: Helps heal inflammation and irritation of the esophagus due to acid exposure.

Mechanism of Action:

• Pantoprazole: Irreversibly inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme (proton pump) located in the gastric parietal cells, leading to a significant reduction in gastric acid secretion.

Dosage Forms:

• Tablets: Available in blister or Alu-Alu packaging, typically 10x10 tablet packs.

Indications:

• GERD with or without erosive esophagitis
• Maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis
